3D Laser Scanning (since 2001)

3D laser scanning offers extensive possibilities for the documentation of existing buildings (as-built documentation) as well as planning visualisation and performance control. The geometry data obtained represents an essential basis for the most varied planning activities due to its quality and high degree of interpretation assurance.

Area information and management – Construction measurement and surveying (building/railway stations,
   tunnels, bridges)
– Surveying of civil engineering works
– Quality assurance
– Survey of land
– Subgrade/geometry control

Ultrasonic testing - non-destructive material testing in the railway industry sector (since 2003)

Non-destructive ultrasonic material tests are used for quality assurance in new constructions and the verification of operationally safe conditions of railway tracks and switches. Ultrasonic tests are a universally usable test method to locate faults which are internal and close to the surface of tracks and components.

ultrsonic testing – Location of faults/subsequent location
– Measurement of wear and tear
– Diagnosis
– Reconstruction proposal
– Documentation
– Expertise

Avifauna study for wind-power generators in western Brandenburg, Germany (since 2003)

Further wind-power generators are planned to be erected in western Brandenburg, Germany. In order to assess the effects of these wind parks on bird-life (avifauna), PÖYRY INFRA was commissioned to carry out an extensive investigation of a total of 102 wind power generators in 11 wind parks.

Avifauna study for wind-power generators – Fieldwork in a corridor of about 25 km length and 18 km width
– Determination and evaluation of the functional relationship
of birds in the area (key parameters: number, height, direction,
type of flights, flight behaviour, collision risks, flocking behaviour,
   food areas, sleeping roosts, etc)
– Representation of client and presentation of findings to
   nature protection authorities and associations

TunnelAsset - maintenance software with statistic tunnel analysis and integrated measure and cost management

On behalf of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), the TunnelControl SBB maintenance software developed during the nineties is redesigned. The current, modular and web-based TunnelAsset application supports the maintenance management at SBB in damage acquisition, measure and cost planning as well as statistic evaluation of tunnels.

TunnelAsset maintenance software – Administration of master data and measures of tunnels
– "Graphic diagnosis" CAD module to acquire damage
– Statistic evaluation of inspections and damage as well as
conditions and measures of one or several tunnels and
their zones in the SBB route network
– Browser-based solution in Java, database Oracle
– Integration into the EDP system environment (OPUS)
and interfaces to the SBB SAP systems

PQBau - EDP-aided implementation of a prequalification procedure for construction works

A procedure to examine the suitability of companies independent of the placement of orders has been developed in cooperation with PÖYRY INFRA in the DB Netz AG business sector of construction works. The PQBau EDP solution of PÖYRY INFRA is a system in which data acquisition, automatic evaluation of companies and the representation of the workflow of the PQ procedure at DB Netz AG as well as the access of applicants via the Internet has been realised. The system supports the procedure in different product areas: Track system, construction engineering, construction supervision, safety work, general underground engineering and special underground engineering.

PQBau - Prequalification procedure – Conception and development of a modular software system
for DB AG to support the PQ procedure in the areas of data
   administration, evaluation and administration
– Conception and development of an Internet portal for
applicants for web-based data input and evaluation
– Development of a search system for the database of
   prequalified companies

Implementation and evaluation of a weak spot and system survey in the area of logistics and picking

Enkler GmbH is a forwarding firm in the warehousing and transportation business. The company employs about 200 people and disposes of a fleet of 45 trucks and a storage area of approx. 70.000 sqm (www.enkler.de).
Optimising of business process chains in the complex environment of logistics and picking was the goal of a business process analysis. Using REFA methodology procedures concerning the receipt of goods, processing, picking, and the issue of goods were analysed. In addition, the work flow of administrative activities were especially scrutinised to show the discontinuity of media and optimising potential.

Systemanalysis Interviews with process participants
Conception and implementation of the survey
Preparation of a plan of action including prioritised proposals for measures
Preparation of a rough concept for an increase in efficiency of
administration procedures using supporting EDP solutions.
